Here's a closer look:
Core Concepts:
The emergency power system (EPS) is a device that provides emergency power support for important loads (such as firefighting equipment, medical instruments, emergency lighting, etc.), and the inverter is the core component of the EPS - it can convert the direct current (DC) of the energy storage battery into alternating current (AC), simulating the mains waveform for the load to use.
Inverter EPS Switching means that when the mains power is normal, the system preferentially uses the mains power supply. When the mains power is interrupted, the voltage is abnormal or faulty, the switching device quickly switches the power supply source from the mains to the inverter (powered by the battery) to ensure the continuous operation of the load; When the mains power returns to normal, it will automatically switch back to the mains power and charge the battery.

Fast switching to ensure continuity of power supply
Switching time is the core criterion, which needs to meet the requirements of different loads:
Normal emergency loads (e.g., lighting, elevators): Switching time is typically ≤ 0.2 seconds (200 ms) to avoid equipment downtime.
Sensitive loads (e.g. medical devices, servers): Switching times as low as ≤10 milliseconds, or even "zero switching" (via static switching technology) to prevent damage to delicate equipment due to power outages.
Two-way switching, intelligent response
When the mains power is normal: The system automatically selects the mains power supply, and at the same time replenishes the power of the EPS's energy storage battery through the charger to ensure that the battery is fully charged and standby.
When the mains power is abnormal: The switching unit immediately detects the fault, triggers the inverter to start up (usually the inverter is in standby mode, the start-up time is < 10 milliseconds), and switches to the battery-inverter power supply circuit.
After the mains power is restored: Automatically switch back to the mains power supply and restore battery charging at the same time without manual intervention.
Security protection mechanism
Prevent short circuit and overload: Built-in over-current and short-circuit protection during switching to avoid damage to the inverter or load due to instantaneous current impact.
Isolation protection: The electrical isolation of the mains power from the inverter circuit is realized through mechanical switches or static switches (thyristors) to prevent the inverter from backing up to the grid or backfilling the battery current when the mains fails.
Fault alarm: If the handover fails, the battery is undervoltage, or the inverter fails, the system will give an alarm through the indicator light, buzzer, or remote signal, which is convenient for the operation and maintenance personnel to deal with it in time.
Adaptable to a wide range of load types
It supports inductive loads (such as motors, water pumps), capacitive loads (such as air conditioners, UPS) and resistive loads (such as lighting), and can stabilize the output voltage and frequency (usually 220V/380V, 50Hz/60Hz) when switching, and is compatible with devices of different power levels.
