Centralized inverter
Centralized inverter is generally used in the system of large-scale photovoltaic power station (>10kW), many parallel photovoltaic strings are connected to the DC input of the same centralized inverter, generally the use of three-phase IGBT power modules for large power, the use of field-effect transistors for small power, and the use of DSP conversion controller to improve the quality of the generated power, so that it is very close to the sine wave current. The biggest feature is the high power and low cost of the system. However, due to the influence of the matching of photovoltaic strings and partial shading, the efficiency and electrical capacity of the entire photovoltaic system are caused. At the same time, the power generation reliability of the entire photovoltaic system is affected by the poor working condition of a certain photovoltaic unit. The latest research direction is the modulation control using space vectors, and the development of new inverter topological connections to achieve high efficiency in part-load cases. String inverter
String inverter has become the most popular inverter in the international market now. The string inverter is based on a modular concept, where each PV string (1kW-5kW) passes through an inverter with maximum power peak tracking at the DC end and is connected to the grid in parallel at the AC end. Many large-scale PV power plants use string inverters. The advantage is that it is not affected by module differences and shading between strings, and at the same time reduces the optimal operating point of the PV module.

In a multi-string inverter, different individual power peak tracking and DC-to-DC converters are included, which are converted into AC power by a common DC-to-AC inverter and connected to the grid. Different ratings of PV strings (e.g., different power ratings, different number of modules per string, different module manufacturers, etc.), PV modules of different sizes or technologies, strings in different directions (e.g., east, south and west), different inclination angles or shading, can all be connected to a common inverter, and each string operates at its own maximum power peak. At the same time, the length of the DC cable is reduced, the shadow effect between strings and the losses caused by the differences between strings
